Programme Context

The Department of Education, Government of Madhya Pradesh (GoMP), is on an ambitious reform

agenda to improve the quality of the public school system and learning outcomes. This reform agenda

focuses on accountability and governance, structural and administrative reforms, capacity building

and learning from innovations and international best practices in pedagogy and delivery.

Peepul has partnered with the Govt. of MP to strengthen learning outcomes for almost a decade.

Through this partnership, we have also developed a deep understanding of the Madhya Pradesh

context, education landscape, and administrative support structures at the ground level.

Peepul is a critical partner to the Government of Madhya Pradesh in their flagship “CM RISE Schools”

programme. We are partnering to build an Academic Support and Monitoring Unit (ASMU), to create

exemplar public schools that provide high-quality holistic education to children across Madhya

Pradesh.

The CM RISE Schools are envisioned to showcase quality teaching-learning practices & innovative

school management processes and act as visual exemplars in the school system for all others to learn

and derive motivation from.

Peepul is also expanding its current partnership with Amazon India, under the “Amazon Future

Engineers” umbrella, to strengthen Computer Science education in CM RISE Schools in Madhya

Pradesh. With a successful engagement in our exemplar schools and now the scaling up of the

partnership in Delhi, we have a strong foundation to further enable this opportunity.

Role Description

The role of the Project Manager is critical to the success of the continued partnership with the

Government of Madhya Pradesh towards achieving quality education for all and to Peepul’s strategic

objective of supporting quality improvement in the public school system in India.

As part of our support to the CM RISE Schools and other state priorities, the Project Manager will be

primarily responsible for managing the development and delivery of the Computer Science

curriculum and approach, and its integration within the state’s existing academic framework. Also,

they will be responsible for the planning and integration of capacity building for the relevant school

leaders and teachers, towards this Computer Science curriculum. The Project Manager will provide

deep support to selected schools for continued refinement to ensure exemplars / role model schools

+ continued learning for refinement.

This person will work closely with Programme Manager of the Amazon Future Engineers endeavour

in Madhya Pradesh. They will also have to work closely with state-level subject matter experts in the

School Education Department, Madhya Pradesh, and partner organizations in the Amazon Future

Engineers community.

Responsibilities would include:

• Owning the design of the Computer Science Curriculum for the state, for relevant grades, working

closely with subject experts within the Education Department and other external experts

• Designing of impact tracking mechanisms and tools, in alignment with the state

• Supporting the design and management of the capacity building on the Computer Science

curriculum, potentially working with partner organizations

• Conducting diagnostic exercises (e.g. interviews, baseline assessments, existing data analysis

etc.) to understand current situation on ground – teacher mindsets, student levels, etc.

• Identifying and nurturing schools and teacher champions to co-develop and deliver the

Computer Science curriculum, as exemplars

Qualifications

● Deep passion and strong interest in the education sector

● 4-7 years of relevant work experience

● Preference for work experience in the public education system, or previous work with the

government

● Advanced degree and professional qualification in public administration and/or management,

public policy, economics or relevant discipline is preferred

● Proven record of hands-on experience in the management of complex units and situations

● Outstanding interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills with senior government

officials will be sought
