EquityTech Fellowship Program: Empowering Social and Financial Inclusion through Technology

The EquityTech Fellowship Program (2024) by Halcyon seeks to empower ventures that leverage technology to enhance social and financial inclusion and bridge equity gaps in wealth, education, and accessibility. This program supports sectors including:

  • FinTech
  • Future of Work
  • Assistive Tech
  • EdTech

Program Structure

The program features a cohort of up to eight ventures, founded by entrepreneurs from around the globe. Participants will receive extensive training based on Halcyon’s methodology, covering areas such as product-market fit, leadership, and investment readiness. The program is structured as follows:

  • Kickoff Meeting: One virtual program kickoff meeting.
  • Residency: An eight-week in-person residency in Washington, DC.

Timeline

  • Application Deadline: May 31, 2024
  • Finalist Pitch: July 2024 (Virtual pitch with Selection Committee)
  • Selection Notification: July 2024
  • Program Kickoff: September 6, 2024 (Tentative)
  • In-Person Residency: September 23 – November 15, 2024 (Washington, DC)

Benefits

Fellows in the EquityTech program will receive:

  • Stipend: $10,000 USD per venture (equity-free) for travel expenses.
  • Residency: Eight-week residency at Halcyon’s Georgetown facilities.

    • Pro bono legal support
    • Consulting services from Deloitte
    • Leadership coaching from certified coaches
  • Cloud Credits: $10,000 USD in Amazon Cloud credits.

Eligibility

To qualify for the EquityTech Fellowship, ventures must meet the following criteria:

  • Stage: Must have a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) with scalability potential.
  • Team:
    • Applications can include up to one co-founder.
    • Applicant must be the CEO or primary decision-maker.
    • Fluency in English is required.
  • Age: Applicants must be at least 21 years old by the start of the program.
  • Engagement: Full participation in all program activities is required.
  • Impact: Ventures must contribute towards one or more of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Selection Criteria

Applications are evaluated on the following criteria:

  • Impact: The potential for the solution to significantly benefit society or the environment.
  • Scalability: The venture’s capacity to reach a large user base within 5-10 years.
  • Innovation: The novelty and effectiveness of the solution in addressing the issue.
  • Talent: The team’s qualifications and ability to tackle identified challenges.
