About Pratham
Pratham Education Foundation (‘Pratham’) is a pioneering learning organisation with the mission of ensuring that “every child is in school and learning well.” Founded over twenty years ago with a focus on pre-schools in Mumbai’s urban slums, Pratham has since expanded its reach and scope. Presently, Pratham operates across 23 states and Union Territories (UTs), delivering programs for pre-school and elementary school children, dropout girls and women, and vocational training for youth. As one of India’s largest non-governmental organisations, Pratham emphasises high-quality, cost-effective, and scalable interventions to bridge educational gaps.
Pratham collaborates with government bodies, local communities, parents, teachers, volunteers, and civil society members to enhance the quality of education in India. Their programs aim to complement rather than replace governmental efforts, serving as models that can be adopted by governments and other partners to reach a wider audience.
About the Team
In the past few years, Pratham has impacted over 20 million children across 22 states and UTs through diverse education-focused programs. Established in 2013, the Measurement, Monitoring, and Evaluation (MME) Team has been crucial in ensuring data-driven decision-making within Pratham and its partner organizations. The team innovated during the COVID-19 pandemic to continue data collection remotely, thus supporting program strategy, content, and implementation decisions.
The MME team fosters a culture of data-backed decision-making. The central team collaborates with approximately 60 state MME associates to ensure the robust and timely implementation of data systems and processes in the field. Moving forward, the team aims to extend its expertise to other non-profits, social enterprises, government data teams, and CSR functions to maximize the utility of their data.
